It was an amazing opportunity to visit the Shetland and Orkney Islands. It was very well organized, food was great, and being able to learn about the history, culture with native guides was exceptional. The excursions were personal, friendly and informative. Accommodations were local historical inns with character not large commercial chains. If you want to get the feel of Scottish heritage join a Ruth Aisling tour. You will not be sorry.

This trip exceeded my expectations and I am so glad that I had this opportunity to travel with a small group and Ruth Aisling. We experienced a variety of beautiful scenery, food, local community lifestyles, and ancient history just to name a few experiences. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and I’m so appreciative that I was able to be a part of this wonderful opportunity!

This is my second trip with Ruth Aisling. It was great. As always, Ruth is a great tour guide and host, more like a friend showing off her country to friends. The fellow travelers were a delight and we made some new friends. The trips fill quickly, since the tour size is generally only about 16 people. If you can, when you get an announcement for an upcoming trip, JUMP ON IT. There will be no openings after a few days. All in all, ANY of Ruth Aisling’s tours are definitely worth taking.

This was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. Shetland & Orkney were absolutely amazing places to visit, but Ruth’s attention to detail really made this trip so memorable. Ruth planned an amazing trip filled with ancient history (standing stones/neolithic dwellings), jaw-dropping scenery (cliff walks) and knowledgeable local guides. The small group was comprised of adventure-loving, cheerful people who were truly a delight to get to know. Ruth is as amazing in person as she is in her videos. I expected a well-thought-out/detailed trip, and it exceeded all expectations at every turn.

Everything about this trip far exceeded my expectations! — Ruth was simply amazing. In person, she’s every bit as genuine, warm, and engaging as you see in her videos and then some. Her happy, friendly, and outgoing personality shone throughout the trip. Her knowledge of both the area and whisky was outstanding, but it was really her personality that made the experience unforgettable. I was constantly in awe of her wide smile and genuine excitement whenever we spotted wildlife or came across a particularly beautiful landscape. — Her organizational skills were equally impressive. The trip had a perfect balance of structured activities to keep us entertained and free time to relax and explore.

I thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Nice people, an amazing bus driver, and our wonderful host Ruth. I felt right at home with all of them, and was touched by Ruth’s concern when I experienced some sea-sickness. Most of the ferry crossings were smooth however and very enjoyable. The sites were well chosen and we experienced everything as advertised. I would definitely do this again or recommend it to my family and friends.

Ruth Aisling is supremely well prepared and organized. The trip went off with no outward hitches. The days were packed with stunningly beautiful scenery, interesting sites and sights, and a well-rounded picture of Shetland and Orkney. Ruth herself is up-beat and charming and she attracts participants who appreciate what she offers and are lovely, cooperative, and enthusiastic. A wonderful week! Worth twice the price and left me wanting more. Top drawer!

Very well planned and executed. The host/guide was involved with making sure that every detail was perfect. Everyone on this trip had high praise for our guide Ruth and I believe everyone felt that the trip more than met their expectations. It was one of the best trips my wife and I had ever taken and we would highly recommend any future trips that Ruth plans.

I have enjoyed Ruth’s YouTube channel for quite a while and it was a delight to meet her in person, and to be on the Islay and Jura tour. The planning was fantastic, the accommodations were perfect. All the stops were thought out to perfection. Ruth is as honest and friendly as you see on her channel, being sure she met and spoke to all who were on the tour. It was a great experience and my girlfriend and I will be joining Ruth on her next trip in April. I highly recommend any tour that Ruth puts together.
