FAQ

I named my van after the lovely man who sold it to me, he was called Ernie!

I am from the south of Scotland. My mother is Irish though so maybe that’s why I pronounce some words the Irish way (apparently being one of them!)

This is a hard question as there are so many beautiful and amazing places in Scotland and I haven’t been everywhere yet! However, so far my favourite place is probably Rackwick Beach on Orkney.

In my opinion May-June or September. Scotland is nice to travel year-round but during these times you will benefit from the longer daylight hours so you can make the most of your days, most attractions and restaurants will be open for the season and you will avoid the summer crowds.

Midges are small insects similar to mosquitoes which appear in the warmer months in Scotland. They can ruin a holiday but I have yet to have an awful experience with midges! If you want to avoid midges, travel between October – April or head to coastal areas which tend to be more windy as midges can’t fly when the wind speed is over 5 mp/h!

Aisling is pronounced “Ash-ling”. It’s an Irish name and in Irish Gaelic, it means “dream”.
